Huomenta…Good Morning! (Or Good Evening, depending on your time zone.)
Late Thursday night, Chris and I picked up his brother Jack, at the Helsinki airport. Jack’s season has ended and he was able to come see us in Finland–our final visitor here in Tampere, for this season. Although I wish I was able to stay and hang out with two of my favorite Connolly’s, I am about to board my first of three flights, bound for Minnesota, USA!
Last night, Chris, Jack and I enjoyed dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Tampere–Napoli! After devouring what we all agreed to be the best pizza we’ve ever had, we headed over to the nearby Nordic Gastropub for some drinks. The brothers will no doubt enjoy their upcoming week together–they kept each other and me laughing hysterically, thus far!
Tappara will begin their first of a potential seven game series for the Championship round, starting Monday night! And in case you were all wondering, C’s leg is healing well.
Cheers to a great 9 months here! Moi Moi, Suomi. Xo
I’m happy to report that Tappara won on Wednesday night, and will be advancing to the semi-final round!
However, when I had stated that, “C could use a little break before the next series starts,” I did NOT mean that literally. Unfortunately, about three minutes into Wednesday’s game, that’s just what he got–in the form of a fractured ankle. Let me tell you, that is so horrible to see, as a loved one, watching from the stands. I couldn’t tell you much of what happened in the game after that, as I was anxiously waiting to hear from him or someone about what exactly had happened.
We are looking at this whole situation from the bright side though, as it happened at a time that won’t affect his summer training or next season. And it could have been so much worse…I am beyond grateful that it was not a life-altering injury. Muscles and bones heal, and he will be as good as new in about six to eight weeks, which will fly by! (Plus, I will get to watch the games WITH him for the next couple of weeks!) Chris has had a tremendous rookie season and I could not be more proud of him!!
Hard to believe Easter weekend is here! Finland and all of Europe takes their holidays quite seriously and all businesses/stores (except bars, of course) will be closed today through Tuesday. Do any of you have any fun plans or traditions?
Sending you all positive Easter thoughts–have a great weekend and a Hoppy Easter! xo
Playoff hockey is in full swing, and I’m loving it! Chris has played four games in the past six days, and Tappara will play their fifth and (hopefully) final game of the series, tomorrow night. Keep your fingers crossed…C could use a little break before the next series starts. (The player high-fiving the goalie in the picture below is Chris…not sure how I managed to captured it, but I love it!)
Today we decided to have lunch at one of our favorite little bistros. The salads there are so good…the company was pretty great too! Afterwards, Chris and I walked to the Kauppahalli. It was super busy so we didn’t stay for long, just long enough to grab a green juice and admire some bright blooms and Easter bouquets. I’m thinking I’ll have to go back for some daffodils–they’re my Springtime favorite!!
I hope you’re all doing well–keep your fingers crossed for a win tomorrow night for Tappara!
